Here is a list of ten of the top fashion-packed movies you need to add to your watch list this cold-weather, movie season.
- Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)

- Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow (played by Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty) were the epitome of style during the late 1960’s and following the film's release. The film’s wardrobe drew influences from 1930’s elegance by incorporating simple silhouettes, knit and twill fabrics, muted autumnal tones, pencil skirts and topping it off with the iconic beret.
- Desperately Seeking Susan (1985)
Vintage vibes, NYC and 80’s Madonna chart toppers, yes, please! Desperately Seeking Susan follows Susan’s (played by Madonna) classified advertisement romance. It also outlines one's attachment to their style and fashion. The costume designer, Santo Loquasto took inspiration from Madonna’s wardrobe shocking audiences with mishmash tastes, sheer layers and laces and also incorporating androgynous elements.
- Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) has become the major source of inspiration with it comes to all things class and sophistication. Her iconic little black dress and pearls still provide the perfect go-to formula for any formal occasion.
- Sex and the City & Sex and the City 2 (2008)(2010)
What’s a fashion movie inspiration list without and appearance from the awesome foursome themselves? Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte have become major fashion icons over the years. - Pretty Woman (1990)
It would be a big mistake (huge) to forget about this 1990 gem. Throughout the course of the film, Vivian (Julia Roberts) trades in her PVC knee high boots and nights on the corner for life in the penthouse suite and bags of designer clothing. In her transition, Vivian opts for simple fashion palette cleansers such as structured blazers and clean button-ups. She incorporates simple basics with soft statement pieces for a sophisticated style.
- The Great Gatsby (2013)
Baz Luhrmann's epic production of the classic, The Great Gatsby combines 1920’s New York interior and set designers with fantastic and extravagant costumes. Whopping 800 dresses were custom-made for the film with 1920’s jewellery and accessories supplied by fashion houses personal archived collections.

- Dirty Dancing (1987)
Set in the summer of 1963, filmed in 1987 and still watched and loved today, Baby Houseman’s style is still one to emulate. Baby’s vacation style incorporated relaxed silhouettes with all things high waisted. Denim and muted pink tones made up a majority of her outfits, including the famous final dance dress.
- The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
Patricia Field has done it again with another perfect costume line-up. The narrative follows Andy Sachs rocky transition from closet nerd to a closet queen. Following her makeover, Andy was all over the early 2000’s trends. Statement coats and high fashion pieces were central to all the characters wardrobes, with dark colour palettes and understated patterns making appearances now and then.
- Clueless (1995)
'As if' this movie wouldn’t make this list. Clueless has got to be one of the most iconic 90’s movies, with thousands of girls still trying to track down that extremely sought after yellow tartan mini skirt. Cher always had perfectly curated outfits with over-the-top matching elements. Each style in this movie is iconic, from the BFF match mini skirts to the white Calvin Klein mini-dress with floor length sheer kimono, Cher is still a go-to fashion icon 20 years after the release of the movie.
