THG Cover New York Fashion Week!
Posted on 23 February 2017
As per usual, NYC fashion week was being covered left, right and center.
New York is one of the main fashion capitals and always brings a buzz when it comes to their semi-annual fashion week. As per usual, this year they delivered an array of excitement! Here’s just a snippet of what went down…
Prabal Gurung / Public School / Calvin Klein / Marc Jacobs
Not one, but many shows had proven that fashion week is not just about the clothes. Several New York designers used their shows to send political messages about the Trump administration and the political atmosphere in general.
After stepping down from the Dior house, Raf Simons has taken on creative director for Calvin Klein. As one of the most anticipated shows of the week, his debut managed to live up to all the expectations. Don’t think Calvin Klein can be anything but minimalist? Raf Simons will (and has) prove us wrong!
Marc Jacobs’ instagram has definitely been loud during fashion week, but his show was definitely the opposite. Making a strong statement with the quietest show of the week! No music, no curtains draw, no lighting, no dramatic set. Just two long rows of folding chairs facing each other forming the catwalk with the focus being solely on the clothes, which reflected when hip-hop began in New York City! With attitude of course.
And of course, at THG we can’t leave you hanging and not share our favourite street style from NYC fashion week 2017. With our winter slowly peering around the corner, here is some winter style inspo for all y’all!
