The Met Gala of 2017 has just passed, a fashion evening event for the influential and star studded individuals of the worlds entertainment scene. This year the honoring theme is Comme des Garcons designer, Rei Kawakubo: “Art of the In-Between”. The attire calls for Avant-Garde black tie, and the guests were sure to show up in some stylish and sculptural pieces. Rei Kawakubo as a designer is best known for the unconventional silhouettes and textures which are featured heavily within all her designs.
This would prove a challenge for the Met Gala, as most celebrities may steer away from unconventional shapes and divert back to figure hugging couture. Heavy features and trends that are resonating from the red carpet are embroidery, textures, deconstructed suits, kilts, tartan and unconventional asymmetrical silhouettes. We at THG are going to show you our top picks from the Gala event.
